Movie Car Registry has added the 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo to its listings through the USA Movie Cars network. The vehicle is located in Newport Beach, California, and gives productions working in the state access to an original 1980s sedan for film, television, commercial, and photography work. Spotlight on this 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo

The listing describes a clean, all-original 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo finished in light metallic blue. It features an automatic transmission, a blue check interior, a sunroof, and 15-inch Draco mag wheels. The four-door sedan body and unusual color combination stand out in a way that can add period texture without requiring heavy set dressing.

Producers can see the car as a supporting element in scenes that need authentic late-1980s detail. The original condition and factory wheels help it blend into background traffic or serve as a principal character vehicle when the script calls for a European sedan from that decade. Newport Beach, California, placement means the car sits in a region with frequent commercial and episodic shoots.

Movie Car Registry and the California Picture Car Market

Movie Car Registry works with USA Movie Cars to connect productions with vehicles across the country. In California the network partners with state-specific sites such as California Picture Cars so that location managers and picture car coordinators can search local inventory more efficiently. This approach reduces travel time for crews already working in Southern California markets.

Newport Beach, California, sits within a busy production corridor that includes both coastal and urban locations. Having the 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo listed here gives California film car and California movie car searches a direct option for 1980s-era transportation without pulling from farther-flung collections.

History of the 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo

The Volvo 740 series entered the U.S. market in the mid-1980s as a larger, more refined evolution of the earlier 700 line. The Turbo variant added performance to a sedan already known for durability and safety engineering. By 1987 the model had settled into a familiar role as a reliable daily driver for families and professionals.

The four-door body style and automatic transmission were common choices for that year, making the car representative of the era rather than an outlier. Its light metallic blue finish and factory Draco wheels reflect period styling cues that appear in many television and commercial projects set between the mid-1980s and early 1990s. The sunroof and check-pattern interior further place the car in its original production window.

California Picture Car Rental Uses

Productions filming period scenes set in the late 1980s can use the sedan for street-level establishing shots or as a background vehicle in parking lots and driveways. Its original appearance supports scenes that need everyday traffic without modern distractions. Independent filmmakers working on music videos or branded content often look for vehicles that read as authentic to a specific decade, and this Volvo fits that requirement.

Still photographers and commercial crews shooting in Newport Beach, California, can also request the car for editorial or product campaigns that reference 1980s design. The four-door layout and automatic transmission make it practical for repeated takes or longer event rentals where the vehicle needs to move on its own power.
