History of the 1987 Ford Crown Vic Philly Police car

The Ford Crown Victoria LTD served as a common platform for municipal fleets throughout the 1980s. Police departments in major cities, including Philadelphia, adopted the full-size sedan for its durability and parts availability. The four-door body and automatic transmission matched the daily-driver requirements of patrol work during that period.

By the late 1980s the Crown Victoria had become a recognizable shape on city streets. Its boxy profile and standard lighting positions made it easy for audiences to identify as a working police vehicle. The blue color scheme on this example follows the typical patrol livery used in Philadelphia at the time, giving the car built-in recognition for any scene set in that decade.
