The vehicle carries a black exterior and blue interior. It is listed as a GL trim hatchback with two doors, a manual transmission, and gasoline power. The public description notes that the car is in nice looking and good driving condition. These traits make it suitable for scenes that call for a period-correct sports car without requiring extensive set dressing or modifications.
Crews filming in Wyoming can appreciate the straightforward presentation. The hatchback body style offers practical access for loading equipment or adjusting props during a shoot. Its classic-car designation in the listing places it squarely in the 1980s era, giving location managers a ready visual match for stories set in that decade.
Movie Car Registry and the Wyoming Picture Car Market
Movie Car Registry serves as a central directory for productions seeking vehicles across multiple states. By featuring this 1980 Datsun 280 ZX from SHERIDAN, Wyoming, the site connects crews directly to local assets through the USA Movie Cars network. USA Movie Cars works with state picture-car sites such as Wyoming Picture Cars to help productions find local picture vehicles more efficiently.
This approach reduces the need for long-distance transport when a project is already based in Wyoming. Location managers and picture car coordinators can search state-specific resources and still access the broader USA Movie Cars inventory. The result is a practical system that keeps more vehicles in regional rotation for both large studio shoots and smaller independent projects.
History of the 1980 Datsun 280 ZX
The Datsun 280 ZX arrived as the second generation of the Z-car line and quickly became associated with the early 1980s automotive landscape. Its hatchback configuration combined sporty styling with usable cargo space, a combination that appealed to drivers at the time. The model year 1980 places this example at the start of a decade when Japanese performance cars gained wider visibility in American culture.
As a two-door manual-transmission car, the 280 ZX represented a period when many enthusiasts still preferred shifting gears themselves. The black-over-blue color scheme listed here reflects common factory offerings that remain recognizable in archival footage and period photography. Productions set in the 1980s often look for vehicles that carry this same silhouette and mechanical character.
Wyoming Picture Car Rental Uses
A 1980 Datsun 280 ZX can serve as a character vehicle in stories that unfold during the early 1980s. Its hatchback profile works well for establishing shots that need to convey a suburban or small-town setting without drawing attention away from the main action. Background texture in wider frames benefits from the car’s distinct roofline and wheel arches.
Still photographers and music video directors can place the vehicle in compositions that emphasize its two-tone interior or clean exterior lines. Event planners sometimes incorporate classic cars into branded activations or milestone celebrations that reference the 1980s. The manual transmission and straightforward layout also make it easier for drivers to handle during repeated takes on set.
